It’s no secret that we have entered into a digital millennium. Though phone books and snail mail still exist, people are increasingly turning to technology for everything from communicating with their families to marketing their businesses. As technology continues to advance, it only makes sense that we should be able to use technology in more and more arenas.
I am excited to announce that I am now offering online therapy to clients in Michigan via video chat platforms like Skype and FaceTime. The benefits of psychotherapy are tremendous, and the benefits of online therapy just as wonderful. I am honored to help my clients through their challenges by serving as a licensed online therapist in the state of Michigan.
#1: I Am Accessible.
As an online therapist, I can meet with you whenever you need me to. Some people have trouble scheduling in-person sessions that work around their work and family obligations, but meeting virtually eliminates that problem. This online accessibility is also very beneficial to clients who live in rural areas or suffer from a physical disability.
#2: You Can Be Anonymous.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of social stigma surrounding psychotherapy. While the truth is that therapy can be enormously beneficial to individuals working through any sort of life transition, many people still (wrongly) believe that therapy is reserved for “crazy people.” People who are undergoing therapy may wish to keep their treatment a secret so they can avoid the social stigma, and meeting virtually allows for just this type of anonymity.
#3: Online Therapy Is Convenient.
Gone are the days of having to meet your therapist in his or her office during set times of the day. We all lead very busy lives, and conforming to standard hours and locations may not be feasible for us anymore. When we meet virtually, we can do so at any time of the day from whatever location you choose. Your home, a quiet coffee shop, or even outdoors somewhere… the choice is yours!
#4: Online Therapy Is Affordable.
I firmly believe that finances should never come between my clients and the quality psychotherapy that they need. Without having to pay for the overhead of an office location, I can keep my (and my clients’) costs down. I also work on a sliding scale fee structure; I want to be able to treat anyone who is in need of my services, regardless of their financial situation.
