When do I donate my husband’s clothes? Is it too soon?Am I crazy for not being ready? I get these questions regularly, and they’re questions I asked myself during my journey. And here’s the not so simple but simple answer: it’s different for each one of us. So whenever it’s right for you is when it’s right. Period. People will ask questions, absolutely. Some will judge. But guess what – that’s their issue, not yours! I was told I was holding onto Jim’s things for too long. From people who have NEVER been through this, mind you. Reminding myself that it was MY journey gave me strength, so I’m here to remind you that this is YOUR journey. No one else’s.
To friends and family – please understand that this is our issue and ours alone. We know you mean well, but questions like “When are you going to take off your wedding ring?” and “When are you going to donate his belongings?” make things worse. You can be supportive by NOT asking these questions. You can offer to help whenever WE are ready. You can understand that physically, belongings are all we have left, and they take on a meaning far larger than simply belongings. If this is something you’re going through, please don’t struggle alone!Send me an email or Book a call and we can discuss this…. and more! Because I get it. I’ve been there. And you are NOT alone! Let’s put the pieces back together.Together!
