Things we do for our fur babies!

If you know me at all, you know that Dallas and Sassy are my babies. My everything.

Well my poor little Sass had to get her shots on May 27, which I hate. She’s always been sensitive and after just getting my 2nd COVID vaccine the week before…. I have a whole new level of understanding and sympathy for what she’s going through. And she’s just miserable today. It breaks my heart and I’d trade places with her in an instant if I could.

Needless to say, I can’t concentrate on anything because all I want to do is pamper her and make her feel better. If these were “work in the office” days, I’d for sure be staying home with her today. And Dallas, my little bundle of joy and energy, won’t leave her side. Their love ❤️

People thought I was crazy when I decided to get Dallas. I was still recovering from back surgery and had Sassy, who is a handful let’s be honest. But we were both deeply grieving and it broke my heart seeing her so sad. I could take her swimming for hours and we’d come home where she immediately would start looking for Jim. I knew that animals can be therapeutic, but never in my wildest dreams did I understand HOW therapeutic.

Because I’m telling you, Sassy is happier and healthier than ever and I’m also telling you…. it’s because we got Dallas. So sitting here, watching her suffer…. and watching Dallas comfort her….. it melts my heart. (You should know, I’m right here curled up on the doggie bed with them, snuggling.)

The things we do for our fur babies. Contort into crazily uncomfortable positions just so they remain comfortable. And this vegetarian touches meat for these kiddos! Blech. I don’t think there’s anything I wouldn’t do, though, let’s be real!

So that was my Wednesday this week. And the only thing I’d change is Sassy being in pain.  You know what they say, woman’s best friend ❤️❤️

Want some of my secret TLC tips for your fur babies?

• Snuggle with them wherever they are most comfortable. Our presence is even more soothing to them as theirs is to us. Think of the extra love and attention they provide us with when we’re down. They need the same love and attention from us when they’re feeling down.
• Make sure they’re cool enough. Animals are much more sensitive to heat than we are, so a cool blanket can do wonders. I have a bandanna that I wet and freeze, and if either of my girls seems too warm, I wrap it around their necks to help cool them off.
• And who wants to get up for water when they’re feeling under the weather? Your pets might be thirsty but too lethargic to get up. Bring water to them throughout the day to keep them hydrated.
