What’s wrong with me? It’s summer and everyone is happy but I’m stressed, depressed and overwhelmed.
Sound like anyone you know? Maybe you’ve been there yourself. And it’s Okay!
We live in a world that avoids uncomfortable conversations. And that makes everything worse. So let’s have the conversations.
Life is full of ups and downs during the best of circumstances. And the last couple of years have definitely not been the best circumstances. So don’t be surprised if things impact you in a different way now.
The pandemic. Loss and grief. Work hiccups. Accidents and illness. All of these things disrupt our “normal” functioning – whatever that is! And things don’t happen one at a time. More often than not, when it rains it pours.
So be kind to yourself. Be patient. Find an online group with like minded people. Find someone you feel safe with and let them know that life is stressful at the moment. Don’t suffer in silence. And don’t struggle alone!
So many people question themselves and that only adds to life’s stressors. Why can’t I cope the way I did before? Why can’t I decide what to eat for dinner?
The American Psychological Association recently reported that there is a significant link between high stress and the inability to make important decisions.
It is really important for everyone to know that you are not alone in what you are experiencing. People everywhere are struggling. We just have to find a way to have the conversations. To be there for each other. To support each other.
We can all take action today. We can:
